We’ve been craving our beach bonfires this lockdown. Cooking over the flames with the sound of the sea lapping the shore. Instead of dwelling on what we are missing we decided why not bring the adventure home.

It’s not the far flung holidays you plan and save for for years, it’s the few stolen hours of spontaneous adventures, the local everyday adventures that you stumble upon that fill you with child like joy.

We decided to head to Port Mulgrave, a disused ironstone port which is only a few miles up the coast from our home in Whitby.

As today is Log Cabin Day we thought we’d share with you a trip we made earlier in the year to Hesleyside Huts in Northumberland.

We headed out of the house this morning at 4am to meet with our fellow 'Whitby Wild Swimmers' to greet the summer solstice.
