The walk we are undertaking for this adventure is a part of the ‘Cleveland Way’ National Trail. Starting in Whitby, we follow the winding clifftops to the smugglers haunt of Robin Hood’s Bay.
We begin the trail from the famous Whitby Abbey ruins. Its gothic silhouette makes for an epic start to the journey… plus there’s usually an ice-cream van around!
Follow the Trail sign posts marked 'Cleveland Way'
Two Red Hot Pokers standing out like two sore thumbs on the cliffs
Just one of the spectacular views along the way
DIRECTIONS
From the Abbey follow the signposts for the ‘Cleveland Way’, once you’re on the coastal path its clear where to go, just follow the snaking clifftops all the way to Robin Hoods Bay.
HIGHLIGHT : LIGHTHOUSE
Our favourite point on this trail was the Fog Horn & Lighthouse Station around a mile in. The views are awesome throughout the whole trail but the white lighthouse against the blue sea and sky was a picture postcard moment.
