Bonfire Night Campfire Cocktail

The leaves are falling and the smell of bonfire is in the air, Guy Fawkes Night is upon us so it's time for a themed cocktail!

The darkly nostalgic taste of black treacle married together with smokey bourbon and finished with toasted marshmallows conjures up the perfect bonfire night in a glass.

The Gunpowder Plot Recipe:
(Makes one)

Black Treacle Simple Syrup
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons black treacle

Cocktail
1 large ice cube, for serving
2 ounces bourbon
1/2 ounce Black Treacle Simple Syrup (above)
Marshmallows, for garnish

To make the black treacle simple syrup: In a small saucepan, combine the water, brown sugar and treacle. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved, about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and let cool to room temperature. Transfer to a storage container and refrigerate for up to 1 month.

To make the cocktail: Place the large ice cube in a rocks glass. Pour in the bourbon and simple syrup. Stir until the drink is chilled. Garnish with some toasted marshmallows.

Cheers!
