COCKTAIL HOUR: The Bleeding Bourbon


As it's Halloween we decided for this week's cocktail we'd venture to the dark side.

We're serving our cocktails in vintage poison bottles (well washed #hopefully) to add drama to an already classic recipe.

Here's how to concoct your poison:

Sugar Syrup ingredients (Makes enough for many cocktails!):
100g Sugar 100ml Water

1 shot Bourbon
½ shot Sugar syrup
½ shot Lemon Juice
½ shot Red Wine

Start by making the syrup. Add sugar and water to a small saucepan and stir on medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Let it simmer for 10 minutes. Then let the syrup cool before using in your cocktail.

Combine the bourbon, lemon juice and sugar syrup in a cocktail shaker and mix. Pour until the bottle (or glass) is filled half way.

Then gently pour the red wine over the back of a spoon just above the drink's surface so that the wine will sit on top.

Then as they say in Hocus Pocus (our fave Halloween classic) 'Dance, dance... until you die!'
